Kara Cooper's Eighth Goal Lifts Soccer to 1-1 Tie Against Butler

Youngstown -- Sophomore Kara Cooper scored her eighth goal of the season with 21 minutes remaining to lift the Youngstown State soccer team to a 1-1 double overtime tie against Butler on Sunday afternoon at Stambaugh Stadium.

The Penguins move to 3-9-3 overall and 0-5-1 in the Horizon League while the Bulldogs move to 7-9-1 overall and 3-2-1 in the league.

After a scoreless first half, the Bulldogs to a 1-0 lead when Abbie Kaul headed a direct kick past YSU goalkeeper Mariah Snyder 14 minutes into the second half.

Cooper, who was assisted by Kelly Storkel, slipped past two Butler defended and buried a shot into the left corner of the net to tie the game.

Snyder posted eight saves in the Penguins' sixth overtime match this season.

The Penguins host Wright State, Friday, Oct. 23, at 4 p.m. at Stambaugh Stadium.
