Buies Creek, N.C. -- The Youngstown State softball team was swept by Campbell in a doubleheader, 8-0, in six innings and 6-3 in the nightcap on Wedneday afternoon.
The Penguins fall to 3-12 on the year while Campbell improves to 10-15.
In the opener, the Penguins were limited to just four hits while the Camels banged out 10 base knocks in the victory.
In the nightcap, sophomore Yazmine Romero went 3-for-4 and scored a run while senior Lexi Zappitelli went 2-for-3 with a triple and two runs scored and junior Maddi Lusk added a pair of singles. Junior Tatum Christy drove in two of the Penguins' runs.
The Penguins got on the board in the top of the first on Christy's two-run single, but the Camels knotted the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the third.
Youngstown State recaptured the lead, 3-2, in the top of the fifth on freshman Grace Cea's sacrifice fly to left field that plated Zappitelli, who led off the inning with a triple.
Campbell, however, tied the game with a run in the bottom of the inning and Christa Hall's three-run walk-off home run in the bottom of the seventh gave the Camels a 6-3 win.
Sophomore pitcher Elle Buffenbarger struck out 10 in the loss.
