The Youngstown State men's and women's track and field teams will host day one of the Northeast Ohio Quad on Friday, April 5, from Farmers National Bank Field. The meet gets underway with the men's long jump at 12:30 p.m. while the running events get started at 1:30 p.m. with the 3000m steeplechase.
The throwing events will be contested at the Lee R. Jackson Track and Field Complex on the University of Akron campus on Saturday, April 6, starting with the men's hammer at 10 a.m.
The annual meet will feature student-athletes from Akron, Ashland, Kent State and Youngstown State.
The Penguins are coming off their opening weekend of the outdoor season which featured seven top ten finishes at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays, North Carolina State Raleigh Relays and Texas State University Bobcat Invitational. On Friday at the Raleigh Relays, Myron Anderson recorded a ninth place finish in the 110m hurdles, Dom Westbay captured a fourth place finish in the shot put and Abby Jones secured a seventh place finish in the high jump.
On Saturday, Jake Wilson lead the way in the javelin with a fourth place finish while the men's 4x200 relay team won Heat 2 and finished with the fourth fastest time overall. At the Texas Relays, Chad Zallow finished fifth in the 110m hurdles and Jaliyah Elliott was eighth in the 100m dash. Freshman Suerethia Henderson earned a sixth place finish in the 200m dash at the Bobcat Invitational.
After last weekends meets, Zallow now owns the ninth fastest 110m hurdles time in the country at 13.70 seconds.
