A pair of seniors in Jaliyah Elliott and Brandon Orlando were awarded with the final Horizon League Runner and Field Athlete of the Week Honors for their efforts at the Al Campbell Invitational, the league office announced on Tuesday.
Elliott was named the Women's Runner of the Week for the third time this season after she won the 60m dash with a time of 7.46 seconds. The Beloit, Wisconsin native enters this weekend's Horizon League Championships with the league's fastest times in the 60m and 200m dashes.
Orlando was recognized as the Men's Field Athlete of the Week for the first time in his career after winning the shot put with a season-best throw of 16.89m. The senior enters the league championships this weekend the second-best mark in the shot put only behind fellow senior Dom Westbay.
The Penguins defend their Horzion League championships beginning on Saturday, Feb. 29 at the WATTS. Action is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.
